Speech-Language development takes place in & out of the classroom and across all communication opportunities (i.e. classroom lessons, assignments, speech sessions, recess, & in home activities). Provided are Weekly activities, resources, materials, and a fun sing-a-long speech & language video (can be played as a reinforcement reward or break time after Home Speech-Language Activities). Distant Learning Speech-Language Activities will focus on your student's
Functional Speech & Language Program until the end of the school year:
(March 30 – May 28, 2020).
Please feel free to modify suggested use of materials as it pertains to your student.
Material can be re-visited and used over as needed.
*Please assist your student with Speech & Language Activities
(2x a week for 20 minutes each session or as recommended):
- What Do You See:(Use the following pages 5-11)
- Please assist the student in expanding their language by describing each picture by “color” & object (example: I see a RED MUSHROOM).
- First, have the student color the round labeled markers as marked with each color.
- Next have the student color the following pictures: Mushroom / RED; Fox / ORANGE; Sunflower / YELLOW; Tractor / GREEN, Airplane / BLUE; Grapes / PURPLE; Bird or Flamingo / PINK; Acorn / BROWN; Bus or Van / Gray; Car / BLACK.
- Last, assist the student in cutting out the small colored circles and the small boxes of pictures to fill in the sentence under each Large Picture provided (Example: I see a RED MUSHROOM)
- “Colors in the Sea” (Pinkfong): Practice naming the colors in the sea with Baby Shark!

- Category Matching
- Please cut out individual picture cards & assist your student on verbally labeling each picture and grouping the items in the box in the appropriate category (i.e. banana, apple, grapes are all fruits). Provide a verbal model of each member that belongs to its respective category & encourage student to repeat or label independently.
- After all sets are reviewed, turn cut out pictures face down and play a game of Category Concentration to match the pictures with its correct member of respective category. Encourage the student to verbally name the members and the correct category.
- Be Happy with Baby Shark Video (Pinkfong): Practice naming the happy sea animals and the /h & b/ sounds.

- Vocabulary Matching Games: Use this Speech & Language Activity Packet to focus on: A. Identifying Pictures B. Matching Pictures C. Labeling Pictures D. Describe pictures (“milk is white”). E. Expand Utterances (“I drink milk”). Please keep one board intact, cut out second matching board & word board to create pieces to match. Please use 2 sets each day: Furniture/Fruit, Vehicles/Numbers, Shapes/Colors, Breakfast/ Lunch, Class Resources/Community Helpers.
